Since our founding in 1991, the overarching mission of Eastern Carolina Christian College, formerly known as Eastern North Carolina Theological Institute, is to inspire student's spiritual growth and theological Scholarship and to leave us as prepared pastors and lay person alike to preach, teach, and lead the church.

At ECCC, students come to sharpen their skills and abilities that best ensure successful achievements of life's goals...for work, and ...forever. It is this fundamental focus that has provided the very foundation on which this school has built its reputation. Flexible scheduling, online, and distance learning opportunities with accelerated curriculums, class credits for life experiences, individualized attention from the most dedicated staff of professionals working in higher education today; these are but few of the many of qualitative facets of the academic experiences ECCC offers. Our commitment to students is also reflected in the technology incorporated in our classroom, academic support services, tutoring, and a career development center connecting students with employers.

ECCC has received substantial recognition for our novel approach to assisting non-traditional students who are balancing the demands of working fulltime jobs and raising a family, and all the while full filling their course obligations. The academic year just past has been a good one for ECCC. Our admission situation in both the College and the Conservatory is strong. In the College, we have held onto gains in admit rate and yields. The Conservatory had another record year of admission selectivity. We have also begun the work of implementing our long-range plans.

To share a few of the major projects that Eastern Carolina Christian College has set for the more immediate future: Collaboration with Halifax Community College in a covenant agreement, to provided core (basic) educational courses for ECCC students and library links. Plans are now in the first stages of design and development for the physical addition to the present facility, with a gymnasium, and improved classroom space. Finally, I want to share with you the ever-God praising blessing of seeing our school move to the next level academic acceptance.

With our current accreditation from Accrediting Commission International (ACI), which is a private accrediting body, ECCC has also recently made application to a nationally recognized accreditation association that is approved by the United States Department of Education to enable student to obtain federal financial funding. With continued support and the consistent aim of serving students, ECCC is moving toward a brighter future. That future, combined with our fixture in the State of North Carolina, reinforces our motto for this institution -- "There's No Education like Divine Education." While we hold this as true, it is equally true that wisdom (knowing what to do with what you know) has the potential to illuminate the world.
